European Union Leads the Way in Protecting High-Quality Journalism

The European Union took a massive leap forward in protecting news content on March 26, when the European Parliament voted to adopt the long-awaited Copyright Directive. The Directive includes a provision that grants European news publishers an independent right to protect their content online against unauthorized uses by online platforms.

News Media Alliance Applauds EU’s Historic Move toward Global Copyright Protection for News Publishers

The EU today reached a final deal on the proposed Copyright Directive in the Digital Single Market. The Directive creates a Publishers’ Right that provides news publishers the right to protect their content against unauthorized commercial uses online.
