“It was a very positive announcement by Campbell Brown on subscriptions through Facebook. First, we have to appreciate that they worked out a deal with Apple that gives publishers 100% of the subscription revenue through iOS. Second, and almost as important, was the reduction in the free article limit to 5. We still think it should be up to the publishers to determine whether (and how much) content to give away for a free, but this is a lot better than previous proposals. Now we have to see if their new subscription function actually drives revenue.”
