What is the News/Media Alliance AI Licensing Program?
As the leading trade association for news media publishers, N/MA has worked to identify and develop reasonable and voluntary opt-in AI licensing opportunities for its members to consider. In response to demand from licensees as well as publishers, we have developed content licensing opportunities to promote efficient marketplace solutions.
Below is information about how to opt into current licensing opportunities.

ProRata AI Licensing Agreement
N/MA is offering the opportunity for members to opt into a content license with ProRata AI, for use with its AI-based Answer Engine currently in beta as Gist.AI, as well as for its proprietary AI attribution and reporting technology engine.
Request ProRata Opt-In Authorization Form (N/MA Members Only)
If you are an N/MA member and would like to review the content license, click below to request access to the key terms of the ProRata licensing offer and opt-in authorization form that you will need to sign. You can also request review copies of the specific terms and conditions of the long-form ProRata agreements.
Note: Clicking the button does not authorize or obligate you to participate in the program, but takes you to a request form where you can request access to a summary document that N/MA publisher-members may sign to authorize their participation in the ProRata license. The complete agreements are available to N/MA members to review by request via the request form as well. This constitutes the final agreement, and it cannot be altered.
Unless otherwise specified, all agreements made available to you and/or that you opt into as a participant in the N/MA Licensing Program are confidential and may not be disclosed, distributed, or shared with any third party
More Information About ProRata Licensing Agreement
Through this opt-in license, N/MA publishers can license their textual content for use in the Answer Engine, which will compensate publishers for use of their content in answers according to ProRata’s attribution technology. ProRata will pay 50% of all revenues to publishers stemming from its Answer Engine (whether on a ProRata hosted site, e.g., Gist.ai, or through a Distributed AI Search), and will provide publishers notice as it launches additional monetization vehicles.
