On May 3rd, the News/Media Alliance joined 46 other organizations in a letter calling for the City of Asheville and Buncombe County Officials to drop all charges against two journalists arising from their arrest in December 2021.

On April 19, the Alliance joined a brief, filed in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, that argues Iowa Code 727.8A is a violation of the First Amendment by criminalizing any person “knowingly plac[ing] or us[ing] a camera or electronic surveillance device that transmits or records images or data while the device is on the trespassed property.”
