On October 10, Wall Street Journal staff reporter Ayla Albayrak was wrongly convicted of terrorism charges in Turkey. The court sentenced her to two years and one month in prison in connection with a Wall Street Journal article published in 2015.
The News Media Alliance condemns this sentence and supports the Wall Street Journal in the appeal. The Alliance believes in a free and robust press and will continue to champion the First Amendment for all members.
