We strongly support Australia’s Right to Know media freedom campaign, launched on October 20, which calls for ending the criminalization of journalists working to report the truth and to hold accountable the Australian government and those in positions of power. Australian laws that permit attacks on journalists who are simply doing their jobs and reporting on government activities that the public has the right to know, should be overturned. We stand behind our fellow Australian journalists and news organizations that are working hard and risking their lives each day to deliver the news, serving a role that is critical to a democratic society.
