Representative Tom Tiffany (R-WI) introduced a joint resolution H.J. 93 on April 10 that would formally withdraw the U.S. from the World Trade Organization (WTO). Representative Tiffany has gone on to argue that the WTO has consistently ignored unfair trade practices employed by China while undermining U.S. agriculture and manufacturing. The resolution follows USTR’s annual report to Congress statutorily required by March 1. Within the following 90 days, any member of Congress can provide a joint resolution to withdraw from the WTO.
