More than 80 news publishers representing 25 states across the country met with Members of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on September 27, 2023 for the News/Media Alliance’s ‘Support Journalism’ Fly-In.
Eighty-four participants representing news publishers in 25 states across the country will meet with Senators and Representatives on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. today as part of a Support Journalism Fly-In hosted by the News/Media Alliance. The Fly-In is being held to advocate for the importance of quality journalistic and creative content and the need for legislative action in the United States.
The Community News and Small Business Support Act, previously known as the Local Journalism Sustainability Act (LJSA) has been reintroduced in the House by sponsor Rep. Claudia Tenney (R-NY) and cosponsor Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA). The bill would provide important support for news organizations and local newspaper and broadcast advertisers.
