About Cassie:

Cassie Sciortino is Director, Legal Counsel for the News/Media Alliance. With extensive experience in intellectual property law and policy, she has developed a strong expertise in the field, having worked on complex intellectual property rights disputes and counseled a variety of rights holders in copyright registration, clearance, licensing, and enforcement matters, with an emphasis on copyright protection and enforcement. 

Cassie previously served as a Barbara A. Ringer legal fellow at the U.S. Copyright Office and helped draft new regulations to revise music licensing laws, drafted sections of the Copyright Office’s May 2020 report to Congress on updating Section 512 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and advised whether to grant or deny final administrative appeals of rejected copyright applications in connection with the Review Board.

Cassie received a J.D. from George Mason University, Antonin Scalia Law School and earned a B.A. in English and Philosophy, receiving departmental honors in Philosophy, from the University of Mary Washington.
