Members of the News/Media Alliance held two very productive postal meetings on January 22, meeting with the 76th U.S. Postmaster General (PMG), David Steiner, and three Commissioners at the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). We discussed how rate increases are impacting our members, working together collaboratively, service, and more. We advocated for price stability and lower rates, as this also has a direct effect on mail volume, as well as not using the additional 2 percent underwater surcharge on periodicals. The USPS is looking at ways to generate money, including the launch of a bidding website last week for its last-mile delivery network. Steiner understands the critical nature of our industry and grew up delivering newspapers.
