USPS Announces No Rate Increases for January
On September 24, the USPS announced there will be no rate increases for Market Dominant products in January. Postmaster General David Steiner made this recommendation, which was accepted by the governors of the USPS.Â
Alliance Files Comments on USPS Service Performance Proposal
The Alliance filed comments on September 23 opposing a USPS proposal to exclude from the service performance measurement system delays caused by extraordinary events outside of its control (hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, etc.) The proposal would give the Postal Service unilateral and unreviewable authority to decide what events to exclude leading to inaccurate service performance figures making their performance look better than it is. In addition, the proposal is broad and would create perverse incentives. No other organization supported this proposal including the Public Representative.
