Arlington, VA – The News Media Alliance today announced the hire of Rebecca Frank as Director, Research & Insights. In this role, Frank will work closely with the Alliance leadership team and staff to collect facts and data that support member newspaper organizations’ goals for growing audience and engagement.
Prior to this role, Frank was Senior Manager of Audience Experience and Acquisition at SmartBrief, a business publisher based in Washington, DC, where she oversaw audience research, analysis and acquisition and retention programs. She has designed, built and fielded surveys that directly assisted the sales teams to aggressively target brands for business opportunities, and worked with marketing teams to create content for advertisers.
“Rebecca has a very detailed understanding of the publishing industry and how data can be used to aid the industry as it navigates the numerous challenges and opportunities it faces today,” said Alliance President and CEO, David Chavern. “Her background fits perfectly with the goal of this position, to cultivate data points that can be used to communicate about the strengths of the industry and contribute to our advocacy efforts. We are delighted to have her on board.”
Prior to working for Smartbrief, Frank helped launch the Global Strategy & Analytics Group at the public relations firm Burson-Marsteller, working with Fortune 500 brands to develop online reputation monitoring tactics, as well as proprietary audience research and analysis tools. Her previous work also includes audience research and strategy in the public health, automotive, and pharmaceutical sectors.
“I am excited about this opportunity to apply my experience and understanding of audience research to help the Alliance members,” said Frank. “I look forward to working with the staff to drive value for the members and provide them with tools to grow and flourish.”
Frank graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in Political Science and Economics. Originally from the New York City area, she currently resides in Alexandria, VA.
