Congressional Small Business Letter Issued

On April 16, a coalition of 68 House Democrats issued a letter to United States Trade Representative Greer, Secretary of Commerce Lutnick, Secretary of the Treasury Bessent, and Small Business Administration Administrator Loeffler warning them to consider the impacts of the Trump Administration’s trade policies on domestic small businesses. The letter cautions that U.S. small businesses’ reliance on imports will result in increased operating costs and higher prices for consumers. In turn, they assert that uncertainty around the Trump Administration’s trade policies could harm small businesses’ investments and ultimately result in a recession. The letter subsequently calls on the recipients to analyze the impacts of the Administration’s trade actions on small businesses and entrepreneurs and provide additional resources to help small businesses navigate the Administration’s trade policies.
